Causing explosions leads to chaos, which functions as a type of currency in Just Cause 2. That's a very good thing because you'll be blowing up a lot of stuff. Most importantly, the tale provides oh-so-implausible excuses to blow up gas stations, radar installations, and offshore oil platforms. Contradictory updates from the government-run news agency will have you giggling precisely because they're so crazy Rico offhandedly dismisses the insane, supernatural events that occur after an eventful flight into a Bermuda Triangle-type region. (Don't bother looking: There aren't any.) You'll probably have more fun trying to figure out where different characters are from based on their insane accents than you will working out what exactly is going on or why you should care, but the tale still works well in light of the game's screwy attitude. The story is all silly fluff, standing out more for its so-excruciating-it's-almost-good voice acting and broad ethnic caricatures than for any intricate plot developments. As in the original Just Cause, you play as Rico, a member of a US agency called, appropriately enough, The Agency. There's a story tying all of the craziness together, but it's about as believable as the crazy stunts you pull. Nevertheless, this open-world action game surmounts its conspicuous issues with liberal doses of ludicrousness well, that, and the ability to attach corrupted cops to a buggy with your grappling hook and drag them around.īy clicking 'enter', you agree to GameSpot's When missions and challenges shoehorn you into specific actions, however, the same loose mechanics that make the open-world exploration such a joy become a frustrating burden. When Just Cause 2 gives you the freedom to do the things you want in the way you want, it shines in all its preposterousness and good humor.

This is a big game that gives you a lot to do and a lot of crazy ways to do it. But in the life of Rico Rodriguez, such events are just another day at the office, though in this case, the office is the gigantic island nation of Panau, where three gangs vie to wrestle control from a corrupt government. In the space of a few moments, you can grapple to a hovering helicopter beat up the pilot and hijack the chopper blow up a cluster of fuel tanks put the chopper on a collision course with an enormous antenna jump out at the last moment and watch the resulting explosion as you parachute to the ground below. The purpose here is to ask if anyone else on GB has had this problem as well.Just Cause 2 is ridiculous in the best possible way. Also I kind of wonder as Steam has been down for 64 minutes and other users are unable to play single player games, maybe this is a Steam DRM that can't sync with the server due to the outage? edit : furthermore this isn't a thread to discuss the likelyhood of my problems being DRM related, discussing the nature of DRM protection, or acting like you know better than anyone else when really you don't. It's not the first time DRM caused problems for me on a PC (but the first time on THIS PC to my knowledge). It can be due to background applications, disk drives, or even just hardware components. False DRM activation does NOT effect everyone equally, just as normal game bugs. My personal experience with both DRM and real game bugs is what suggests this. Restarting the game shouldn't alternate between control, interface and graphical issues if these were real bugs. Anyways I'd appreciate if anyone else is having the problem to post It's the nature of the bugs that makes it seem this way. Not a real fan of what I was able to play, but obviously the 'bugs' were keeping me down. Otherwise based on what I've seen I'm not very interested, performance is well optimized, but the oversaturation of the colors and the graphics detail is pretty poor.

To me this seems strongly like artificial bugs set for DRM, but this is a demo I'm playing! It's really rather ridiculous and I wanted to see if anyone else has had problems with the PC demo. 3rd time I started it up there were no shadows at all, and my settings still had them on.

Second time I tried I hooked up my 360 gamepad and the left trigger wouldn't work at all, and sometimes when I jumped I used my second weapon or grenades. It wasn't a real freeze though, the HUD just disappeared and I couldn't move, but I could press esc and move the mouse cursor around and there were sound effects for the menu items I couldn't see. First time I started up the game I was using the KB+M to control and I went to pick up a weapon and the game 'froze'. Checked out the demo today on PC via Steam today, and I'm running into really weird bugs that remind me of DRM practices.
